Springtime Aromatherapy for Grounding and Earth Day

Using essential oils to connect with spring, and nature, is a beautiful way to celebrate the season, and embrace the renewal and growth that it brings. Spring breezes and fresh air, powerful storms, plants bursting out of the earth, all highlight our need to keep grounded during this volatile season of changes and growth.
You can incorporate Aromatherapy to enhance your grounding and connection with nature, to promote a sense of calm and balance during this time of change.
Grounding refers to a holistic state of being in our world, on multiple levels.
We can be:
Physically grounded – physically connected to the Earth and nature;
Emotionally grounded – where our thoughts and emotions move freely and without influence or judgment; and
Spiritually grounded – our connection to our “spirit” or “source” is open and abundant, but keeps us rooted in higher purpose.
We can become ungrounded through distorted thought patterns, stress and anxiousness, and essential oils that may help with such conditions should be considered.
When we feel grounded, we experience a greater sense of safety, security, and support.
Many of the most grounding essential oils come from trees, from their barks and resins. This makes sense - we know that trees are intrinsically grounded through their root structure, into the Earth.
Using tree essential oils for grounding is a fantastic way for us to connect with the earth's natural energy and feel rooted in the present moment. Here are some tree essential oils known for their grounding properties:
Cedarwood essential oil has a warm, comforting, woody aroma that is deeply grounding and calming. It can help promote a sense of security and stability, making it an excellent choice for grounding practices.
Spruce essential oil has a crisp, clean fragrance reminiscent of the great outdoors. It is grounding and balancing, making it ideal for promoting a sense of harmony and connection with nature.
Monday April 22 is Earth Day, a day to celebrate the environmental diversity of Earth and highlight ways to protect our planet. We can emphasize this connection to earth using essential oils with earth-like aromas. Just make sure the oils you use are ethically sourced…
One earthy smelling essential oil is Patchouli. Its musky aroma is often associated with grounding and centering. It can help anchor one to the present moment and promote feelings of stability.
Diffuse a blend of chosen grounding or earthy essential oils in an Aromatherapy diffuser, to fill your space with their scents. Experiment with different combinations of natural essential oils to find the blend that resonates most with you and helps you feel deeply connected to the earth this springtime.
I like to put grounding, earthy essential oils in fragrance free body lotion to use after a shower. Don’t know exactly how to do this? Click on the “Resources” tab to get my safety sheet. It has everything you need to know to use essential oils safely on your body.
